Mobile Innovation in Community Health Using mobile devices to collect data has multiple benefits for community healthcare providers. It removes both the need for staff to travel to a base clinic to hand in paper or pick up files and, it eliminates any manual data entry and delays. Primarily, it provides real time patient information to all staff who need to know “at point of care”. The AMS Mobility platform is used in New Zealand by the Taranaki District Health Board with Community Nurses, and by HealthCare Holdings Limited (HHL) community Nurses. HHL are NZ's largest community healthcare provider. For both of these organisations, it reduces the time it takes to complete assessments, and any needless travel to deliver files/forms. It enables staff to focus on patient care not paperwork. Further Clinical signoffs can be achieved by auto-routing the data from the Community Health worker's - tablet or phone - to the Clinicians device for data veracity review. Once checked, the data can then enter the central records, so everyone has the most recent information about a patient. The advances in Mobile IT solutions are proving pivotal to community health care, supporting both wellness and prevention of illness.
